Stainless Steel 420 Pipes are a type of martensitic stainless steel, featuring a high carbon content of 0.15–0.40% and 12–14% chromium, which gives them excellent hardenability. They also contain trace amounts of manganese, silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur. After undergoing heat treatment, these pipes can achieve impressive tensile strengths ranging from 700–900 MPa and yield strengths around 450 MPa, with hardness levels reaching up to 50 HRC. While SS 420 provides decent corrosion resistance in mild environments, its key attributes are high wear resistance, durability, and machinability, especially when hardened and tempered for mechanical and structural uses.
