Stainless Steel 409L Tubing consists mainly of Iron (Fe), Chromium (10.5–11.75%), and minor Carbon (<0.03%), with trace amounts of Manganese, Silicon, Nickel, and Nitrogen. It is a low-carbon, titanium-stabilized ferritic stainless steel with improved weldability and corrosion resistance. It possesses mechanical properties in the form of tensile strength of about 380–450 MPa, yield strength of about 170 MPa, and elongation of 20% minimum. The tubing has good oxidation resistance up to 675°C and fair formability and is used in several applications where heat and corrosion resistance are essential.
