Stainless Steel 317 and 317L Electropolished Pipes are high-alloy austenitic chromium-nickel-molybdenum stainless steels with 18–20% chromium, 11–15% nickel, and 3–4% molybdenum, with 317L being the low-carbon form to improve weldability and minimize carbide precipitation. These steels possess good resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. The mechanical properties are tensile strength of about 515 MPa, yield strength of about 205 MPa, and elongation of 35%. Having about 217 HB max hardness, they have high strength, ductility, and corrosion resistance, particularly in harsh chemical and marine environments.
