16–18% Chromium, 10–14% Nickel, and 2–3% Molybdenum are the main contents of Stainless Steel 316 and 316L ERW pipes, with 316L having less carbon (less than 0.03%) for enhanced weldability. These alloys possess superior corrosion resistance, particularly in chloride and acidic environments. The mechanical properties are tensile strength of 515 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and 40% elongation. The two grades are non-magnetic when annealed and possess superior strength and toughness at wide temperature ranges, where 316L is especially needed in weld and corrosion-resistant applications.
