SMO 254 (UNS S31254) is a super austenitic stainless steel alloy known for its remarkable corrosion resistance. It typically consists of 19.5–20.5% Chromium, 17.5–18.5% Nickel, 6–6.5% Molybdenum, and about 0.2% Nitrogen, all while maintaining low carbon content. These elements work together to provide exceptional resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. In terms of mechanical properties, it boasts a tensile strength of up to 650 MPa, a yield strength of around 300 MPa, and an elongation of 35–40%. SMO 254 also retains its toughness and structural integrity in both high-temperature and sub-zero conditions, making it perfect for extreme service environments.
