SA179 Tubes are low-carbon seamless cold-drawn carbon steel tubes that find major applications in heat exchangers and condensers. Their most common chemical composition is Carbon (≤0.06%), Manganese (0.27–0.63%), Phosphorus (≤0.035%), and Sulfur (≤0.035%). These tubes have very good mechanical properties with a minimum tensile strength of 325 MPa, a minimum yield strength of 180 MPa, and elongation of 35% minimum. SA179 tubes possess good low-temperature corrosion resistance, weldability, and low-cost fabrication, thus making them suitable for severe industrial heat transfer services.
