Aluminium 2024 Tubing is a high-strength, heat-treatable alloy made up of about 90.7% aluminium, 3.8–4.9% copper, 1.2–1.8% magnesium, 0.3–0.9% manganese, along with small amounts of silicon, iron, and zinc. In the T3 or T6 temper, it boasts a tensile strength ranging from 400 to 490 MPa, a yield strength of approximately 270 to 410 MPa, and an elongation of 10 to 20%. This alloy is known for its excellent fatigue resistance and good machinability, although it does have limited corrosion resistance. To enhance its corrosion protection, it is often clad with pure aluminium. Its impressive strength-to-weight ratio makes it perfect for applications where performance under stress is essential.
